Hi Lads, any chance of a bit of help with recording audio tracks using cubase please? When i record an audio track, everything is grand. when i try to record a second audio track, its captured but the first track also bounces onto the second track. is there anything obvious settings-wise that i'm overlooking? i've had a bit of a look on the old google machine, but im either overlooking an obvious answer or im asking the wrong questions. my effects path is like this:

    guitar---effects processor---mixer---laptop.

the mixer is a tiny behringer mixer, the stereo RCA outputs are connected to the Mic input on the laptop.

any help would be greatly appreciated!
    thanks

When recording a track you have to arm it to record, so if you don't want to re-record the track again when your recording a new track, you have to un-arm it. I'm not familiar with cubase's layout, but I'm sure you can google the manual or something and check it out.

Hi Stetyrrell, i was thinking that too, but the only track armed is the track i currently want to record to.

So the first track recorded goes straight into track 2 once you press record?

    hi there, here's an example:

i record a guitar track to track one
i record a bass track to track two
when i play back track two, i hear the bass, plus i hear the guitar from track one, but at roughly half the volume.

it seems like its picking up the monitor signal as well.....wierd.

You hear both even when you solo track two?

Are you listening to the Guitar Track while recording the bass track?
And if so, is there a microphone on your laptop (from a webcam or anything) that could be picking it up?

yes, im listening to the guitar track when recording bass. i was thinking this as well, but im using headphones for everything. if this was the case surely all that would be picked up would be pick sounds? i could be wrong though.... i'll check that up, thanks
