Recording Studio Internships

    Hi Guys,

I was wondering if you guys could help me.

I am looking to do an internship in a recording studio in and around the galway area. Although i have no experience in sound engineering, i hope to start a career in music production or at least get a taster for it. I am however a musician of sorts, having studied classical piano for most of my life (completed all grades). I intend to take on the intern and start from the very bottom, and i dont wish to get paid.

I was wondering, would i still get a look in even though i've no previous experience of sound engineering?

Also does anyone if the few recording studios that are dotted in and around galway take on (unpaid) interns??

    I would appreciate any advice,

    Thanks:)

good luck with it, it's a bloody hard thing to crack into. i'm in the same boat and even with a good bit of experience and good contacts its difficult to get work. try the small local studios. buddy up with the guys at your music store, or talk to guys at the local live venues. they'll point you in the right direction. hope you get somewhere with it. :)

also yeah, the smaller studios do tend to take on interns, but generally its guys they know and trust. you just have to get stuck in.

Go for film location sound, or live sound instead. You'll get more and better experience, and paid work.
