Gambling on a computer is ridiculously dangerous.
If I put five hundred euro in crisp notes in your hand it's a lot of money. But on a screen it's just a number.
So the boyfriend may be betting with bigger sums then he would ever do in a bookies

Credit card, get him to agree to snip it
Laser card, well these are needed but might be possible to put a daily restriction on it. Not sure, the bank could answer that and you don't need to give the reason.

I believe there is some software program that can block gambling sites. Of course there are ways around these things but it's a tool. Do a search on boards maybe, I've heard of it but don't know the name

Gamcare are a UK charity that have a base in Ireland

A bit vague there how it works, seems the counsellers double for substance abuse but don't read into that, they just focus on many areas.
The boyfriend may want to meet a counsellor

Finally, he's spending his time on the computer.
The lad needs something to focus on. It's January, get him fit and you go too for company. Lots of activities.
There are basketball clubs and five a side soccer clubs he can head along to, make some friends and keep active

Or you two go for long walks or organize more date nights.
And he'll have more energy ;)

Break the cycle and shake up his life. If he's not at the computer he'll be doing something else

Oh and I know little about poker but if he's betting at poker well you can still play online with no money involved.
