hi all im new to all this. i have wrote this before, but i dont think i did it right.
me and my partner would love to get married in a registry office in skibbereen and just go for lunch with just family. there will be 20 people approx. skibbereen is a very special place for us. problem is we all live in tipperary and its a 100 miles to get there. and on a monday.
we dont want any gifts. just for every1 to be there if they can.
do u think this is unreasonable to ask them to come that far just for lunch.
my partner suffers ill health and can be taken into hospital at very short notice. another reason why we just want a quiet day.
does any 1 know anywhere nice to eat that could accomadate this in the skibbereen area.
we will be payin for lunch and drinks but that is all
we will be staying around there for our honeymoon. hopefully in sept. but im only just starting out. got lots of advice of this site. many thanks

Cant really recommend it from a wedding point of view but we stayed in the West Cork Hotel last year and the food there was gorgeous. Might be worth contacting them to see if they can do anything for you. It was very reasonable to stay there as well.

I'm doing something similar to you wedding wise in April but having a meal in Kenmare. A poster recommended the Pink Elephant to me previously although i think this may be nearer clonakilty that Skibbereen.
Also i looked into Blairs cove in Durrus although the owner wasnt overly poilite or accommodating and also the good food cafe in durrus looked quite nice too.
Enjoy your day and no it is not to far for your guests to travel. If it is a small number they will all be close to you or your future husband so i'm sure they would travel any distance to share it with you.

    thankyou all for advice.
i phoned skibbereen reg office. i didnt realise that we would have to marry in cork registry office as that would be the nearest to there. i thought skibbereen registry could do it. never mind anyway it looks like it will be held in tipperary after all.
makes things alot easier. we will just go skibbereen on our honeymoon. thanks again for ur advice. :)
