    Well leds,
just wonderin, what's the rough price of gettin started into pheasant shooting?
i'd be startin from scratch so it'd be licence, training day, gun etc.
I know that membership for the local club is €50 a year.
    cheers!!

some of the basics to start off with
    Competence course: €50 ish
    Licence:€80
    Safe: €100-200

When you take these into account you have to throw a few quid away for shells which are about 7-10euro for 25 depending on what you go for

also a cartridge belt is handy, i picked up one for 15euro but you could spend more on a leather one
A game jacket is another handy thing to keep anything you shoot in the game pocket in the back of it. 40euro up again you could expect to pay

when you take all this into account you decide how much you have to spend on a gun. you can pay anything from 200-4000 on guns so a estimate price will be needed before anyone can comment on that
you also have a choice between over/under, side x side, semi auto or pump action. o/u is the most common for game shooting since they are lighter and can be safer getting through ditches.

well i wouldnt have to worry about safe belt etc. as all my family shoot and we have a good safe. i have clothing, belt etc also. i was checking there and the gun licence was €25, but is there a different cost for your first one? i'll definitely be gettin an o/u as i've had experience with a double and a pump action but i definitely prefer the o/u. i'd be looking to spend around 150 to 250 on a gun

licence is 80 any lasts three years, buy a second gun and its another 80.

dont know will you pick up a o/u in good nic for that price

oh right okay, how long is the competence course? is it just a day thing?
i wouldn't mind getting a second hand one either. once you have a gun licence are you legal to shoot clays on your own land?

license 80 euro for 3 years

you will get a gun for the budget ya have no problem it will just be old (doesnt mean in bad nick) a guy in our club bought a side by side for 100 euro
so make sure someone checks it for ya

It's pretty hard put a price on these things, by the time you buy a gun & get your licence, there wont be much left of the season. My advice is save a few more euro, wait until you have the price of a good quality second hand shottie, when you get in to it, you will want is your own dog,the dog is the best part of pheasant shooting, i think. Good luck

if you want to save a view quid why don't you get one of the existing guns licensed in your name. You can do this and it means you get to take out one of the guns in the safe already. You can save up then and buy something for around 600.
