    Hi all,
I'm having a problem with the waste pipes in my bathroom ,when i let water down the sink the bath drain gurgles a lot ! and air comes up through the toilet ,when i flush the toilet the water rises first then goes down and water comes up the bath drain along with a nasty smell ! i tried a plunger and some drain unblocker which helped a little , is it a case of doing this till i unblock or are their any other tips or tricks i could use ?
    Cheers !

Is there any small manholes on your property ? if there is id lift the lid and have a look to see they arent blocked.

Are you in the place long, has this just happened, sounds mad, Toilet should be completely separate to the other fittings.

    thanks for quick reply's!
yes i did check shores/manholes that i have 3 in total and the house is 17 years old , as i said i had some joy with "harpic unblocker" i got some more so i will put it down the sink and bath and leave it over night .I think the waste pipes from the sink ,toilet and bath should meet at some stage, maybe there is a blockage that is causing air suction at the bath u-bend ?

Sinks, showers, and baths can from time to time block up, a plunger usually does the job, but the toilet should clear itself unless something like those plastic detergents that hang over the side of the lip fell in and got stuck in the bend or if a kid threw something in that could block it.
Does the waste pipe run straight down to the man hole or is there a flat roof first?

You could try sewer rods both ways from manholes. I had a similar problem a few weeks ago and this solved it. If there is a blockage in the sewer pipes, use a lot of water along with the sewer rods. Hopefully something will move...

thanks again for replys , i took out the toilet bowl ,it was clear but the pipes take a right turn so rods could only go so far ,still gurgling so i'll have to get in a pro !

I bought a drain cleaning yoke in Aldi or Lidl some time back. It is around 5m long of very flexible strong wire type. It will negotiate right angle bends easily. The only fault I found with it was it was not long enough for the job in hand at the time.
