What's happening in America with RL?

Following the split by the majority of teams from the AMNRL last year, there are now two organisations, the AMNRL and the USARL. The AMNRL appears to be the governing body recognised by the RLIF as the official one. Yet, all the strongest teams went to the USARL.
The USARL now has more teams (8) as opposed to 5 in the AMNRL top league. (the AMNRL also has a pacific league but it looks like only two teams can really field). The USARL states it is a semi professional league.
Interestingly, it appears that playes are still selected from both organisations for the USA Tomahawks national team, even though it is administered by the AMNRL. Apple Pope, the captain of USA is a player with Jacksonville Axemen, a USARL team.
Does anyone know the politics behind this, will the RLIF recognise the USARL? will they amalgamate again?
This cannot be good for the game long term in the USA.

the split came about last year because the existing comp over in the states was run by one guy, David Niu, the league didn't work particularly well, for example in the 2 seasons I played over there there were playoff games cancelled or teams that didn't qualify being promoted into the playoffs because the qualified team wouldn't travel. There was a lot of grief about selection for the national side too with most players coming from two teams the bulls and the knights, as well as all the imports.

a group of clubs, most of them founding teams of the original AMNRL, went off and founded their own league which had a pretty strict set of rules on things like home field, team uniforms, number of imports, travelling to away matches etc. and all clubs have a say in the running of things. The USARL played last year and seemed to go very well even though there were a few lop sided scores against newer teams.

The AMNRL's big feather in their cap is RLIF recognition and Niu won't pick anyone in the rebel comp to play for the national team, a bigger deal now that they've qualified for the RLWC next year. Seems ridiculous that they'd blow such a good chance to promote the game over there but there seems to be a lot of ego involved in it. Don't see it getting resolved anytime soon
