I saw it in the lenovo.ie shop.

The ones you posted all only have the i3 processor and the one I posted has AMD A8 and a 9 cell battery. The hard drive is a bit small though.

The i3 only slightly worse than the A8 and in fact out performs it in some areas.

So if I go for an i5 it will be very fast? I only need the laptop for college stuff . Budget is max €500.

Can you fit a graphics card to laptops later on?

If it's only for college stuff the A-8 or an i3 is more than enough.

Only on certain dedicated gaming laptops, which of course are way out of your 500 euro budget. That said the integrated card's on the new i3's and the A8 are enough for some light gaming.

Will an i3 still be fast in 4 years time? Im going to try and get an i5 but just now I was reading that the A8 is actually much better for gaming. I'm not a big gamer anymore but I do enjoy it for the odd 20 mins here and there.

Also I don't want a heavy one. Does it make a difference to The weight having more memory and better batteries?

Define fast? Will do it basic everyday things? Likely yes. Will it run games that came out in that year? No.
An i5 will probably just manage even the second.
What kind of games do you play? An i3 or A-8 is probably plenty for you.

Bigger Batteries, more RAM, and a bigger HDD will of course add weight but not that much.

I'd be looking for a machine that doesn't pause or stall when I have a few programs running. Does this type of experience exist?

    Ok let's forget about games.

Things I want in order of importance .

    Very Fast,
    Good battery time,
    Light weight.

What else is important spec wise guys?

All you need for very fast is, i3, a HDD with 7200rpms and 6GB ram. (you can always install ram later yourself if the laptop has less than this, its cheap and easy to do)

Good battery time, on a 15inch you'll need more than a 6 cell battery to get much more than 4 hours on MOST laptops, some may have some features that push this up.

Light weight, well you should be going for a 14 inch or less if you want that, average for a 15 inch is 2.6 kg. With a 14 inch you can get 2KG or less. Also battery time would improve. Downside is they are more expensive. 550+ euro.

Thanks Yeah it looks good, but too dear for me.

I haven't found any laptops with the 7400rpm hard disk.

I was looking at Dell but you can't configure what you want anymore :(

    It's 7200 rpm.

Are you sure? It's only on certain laptops you can't, the HDD if it's only 5400rpm is ok, you can upgrade it later to an ssd when you get the money or they drop in price. SSD are a huge huge advantage over even 7200rpm HDD but they are expensive and have smaller memory space.

An i3 is perfectly good for current and future everyday programs.
The hard drive is more of a factor if you want fast load times and responsiveness. I would recommend adding an SSD at a later date which will give a huge boost in responsiveness.

I bought this as it's the best of the price range(after quite a big of searching), now all I have to is ditch the optical drive for a ssd and this is fine for the next 4 years.

I've only seen one place online where people actually bought this model and they said that everything about it was great basically except for the onboard speakers, which I couldn't care less about as Ive never had a laptop with good speakers and dont really expect or need it, thats what headphones and speaker systems are for.

The spec they're working off is slightly different but should give a better idea on what the laptop is like.

It is a tempting deal, but if it didn't have the graphics card how much would it be?

Maybe I could buy it and sell the graphics card on and recoup some costs.

What's the story with these ssd drives. Are they the future?

yeah? nice i couldnt find any reviews for it at all, as its a Asian spec laptop theres no European or american reviews so i was a bit worried, my brother ordered it monday so once it arrives il take a look and most likely get it, really good specs on it and not a big 15.5" which is the main thing!

any problems with overheating when your running demanding programs? meant to be common enough with aspires

A misunderstanding has been had im afraid, I ordered mine on tuesday and am waiting on it. Everything I've said about the machine has been hearsay from the internet. Im still waiting on this yoke aswell, feckin dutch.

Is your brother happy? The question you asked me I now ask back at you, any overheating problems?

yeah he got it yesterday, had a play around with it last night, its pretty cool, looks a hell of a lot better than it dose in the pics, good comfortable size, super fast, the usb 3.0 is pretty cool only took 20mins to transfer 60gigs of films and tv series onto it.

didnt run anything too demanding on it, tested out a few games and it was cool to the touch the fan wasn't even on to cool it

the speakers are crap alright, wouldnt bother me tho.

overall its pretty impressive to have such high specs for the price.

i ordered mine last night, cant wait to get it now!!
