The bloody thing snapped clean off this evening.

Whats the easiest and least stressfull way to remove the rest of it,without wrecking the radiator???

    Thanks.:)

That particular vent is easily replaced as you can unscrew the part left in the radiator and simply fit a whole new piece. Should be easily got at any plumbing shop that sells these radiators(looks like myson) BTW don't forget to shut the radiator valves(both sides) before attempting this.

Did it snap off while you were trying to undo it? If so, it could be that it is either cross-threaded or rusted in (if it's not a brass bleeder). In either case it could be difficult to remove and might need a plumber (or mechanic) with the right tools to remove it (such as an easy-out).
If it was snapped of just by being hit from the top or side, it should be easy enough to get out. Possibly with a screwdriver or with a fine pointed centre punch to tap it out.

The easiest way is to leave it alone and start again.

Get a self tapper wrapped in ptfe tape.
Turn off the rad on both sides, drill a really small hole at the top of the radiator and screw your self tapper in.

This is by no means the the right thing to do but it works and is the easiest way out of it.

But lads that whole part will unscrew out of the radiator. Have a look at the photo. No need for hammers and screwdrivers and the devil knows what.

    ^^^ What oikster said.
Far easier to just buy a new vent

Unscrew the hex fitting and replace with a new one is the best bet to avoid doing any further damage.
