    Hi guys
Does anyone have one of these scopes, what is your opinion on them. They are a relatively cheap scope but reviews seem ok.
I don't know much about scopes so would appreciate yer views on this scope for foxing both day and night

    Twin27,
Concisely: you get what you pay for. If you're not paying a lot, she might be a good deal.

I have one which came as a package deal with a Howa 1500 which I purchased. She's fine, but all she does is rangework in nice conditions.

I like the Nikko, but it does not spend a lot of time on any of my game-day rifles. She's fine if she comes cheap, or that's all you have. But if you're buying new, there are better.

At night with a lamp you should be fine. At dawn or dusk, without a source of light, you'll see the difference. Also, I would bet that on frosty mornings at sunrise, she'll glare up.

Nikko is a good company. They have been making optics since at least WWII. The made optics for the Japanese and American Navy. In fact, when the War started, America no longer had Nikko as a source for optics.

Personally, I would not pay a lot for the scope. There are far better scopes at fair prices. You should check out opticsPlanet.net. Have a look at the Sightron scopes, Burris Fullfield II, Refields, and the Nikon Prostaff. They are all excellent scopes for the money and more than enough that any deer hunter would ever need.

Other than lamping, have you any other game: , bunny bashing, targets, deer, general merriment? You've got a big bell at 56mm and decent magnification at 12x.

Finally, there's always confusion as to who ships what where. If there's a problem shipping from OpticsPlanet to Eire, please advise.

Ya I think it's prob same as yourself , it's on a howa 223 1500 package deal so is coming fairly cheap would a leupold 3x9x40 be a better scope , I know optics are better but do you think it's enough mag for foxes etc

I have used and had the Nikko 8-32x60, 6-24x56, 4-16x56.

All do the job but as said above by Fisma you get what you pay for.
I was very happy with the Nikko until I took a look through a Bushnell Banner, it was then I could see what people were talking about with better glass. The scopes may have been in the same price bracket but there was a difference.

All my scopes are now from Bushnell - 2 x 4200 elite 6-24x50, 3200 elite 10x40, Banner 4-12x40 & 6-18x50. All good mid priced scopes IMO.

    From above
"Have a look at the Sightron scopes, Burris Fullfield II, Refields, and the Nikon Prostaff. They are all excellent scopes for the money and more than enough that any deer hunter would ever need." + the Bushnell's

4-12x40/50 would be better. Try to take a look through the scope at a fox sized object @100-200 yards and see if the zoom is good enough for you.

Remember the bigger the objective lens the bigger the image you see

Thanks for that Clive , I was thinking it's prob not great it's just it's on a package deal ,don't suppose you know of any package deals on 223 with better scope and mod . I'm way down end of country and no gun shops down here and don't have time to go travelling round the country .

Work away twin27, it sounds like you're getting a deal, like I did, so there's little to lose.

Just don't go paying extra for the rings and scope. If you could knock a hundred euro off without them, I would.

Fortunately, the Howa 1500 and the Remington 700 can share rails. Thus, you'll never be at a loss for choice.

Get and shoot your kit, have your say on the boards, and by the time you've become better than the scope, you'll be set to decide the next scope up.
