    hi westwicklow.
Can i ask did you get the system advertised as being the best camera system on the market ? being able read ear tags from your phone covering 360 degrees running on a track to monitor the whole shed with one camera ? I contacted this guy for a client of mine looking for a remote form of monitoring and he started talking about all the system could do but never mentioned you need a mobile broadband connection (not vodafone) at a cost per month . I have a few years of experience in cctv and the very minute i started asking technical questions he suddenly hadn't time to talk anymore and promised to call back later the same day still waiting 5 weeks later . Fact is i've removed this guys work and the equipment could only be described as cheap chinese muck, it was a wireless system transmitting 100meters to a house. My only advice is avoid even if the gear is got up and running chances are it won't last a year and as for customer support doesn't exist after you've parted with your money. let me know how you get on maybe these guys cleaned up their act .oh and one other thing is these have never installed a camera that moves along a rail apparently its not practical in this country ?

I can second what Ponyirl said. I bought one a camera, wireless transmitter and receiver 3 years ago. Never worked great and has stopped working altogether now. No backup, no guarantee.

On the lookout for a replacement now. Any suggestions/recommendations/offers welcome.

id say a camera moving on a rail isnt practical anywhere, no need for it anyway, good camera will have PTZ functionality and will cover a very big shed

Was on youtube recently and spotted this.

He uses one android phone to log in and control the other and can see what the other camera see's. Might not work for checking cattle but it's interesting none the less.

Was actually talking to him at the show in millstreet, was watching some lad in Galway feeding cattle from his smartphone. His cameras looked to have a great quality picture too and he told me of a few lads I know he did it for so I could check him them out. Had great crack playing with the PTZ camera below. He reckoned he could get wireless working at 4km if he had line of sight and I know a lad he did it for.

you could do it yourself redzer to be honest, wireless gear is v good now and not expensive, often the software that comes with it will even help you align the antennas

Hi godmother . Do you have some issue with 3 ? . The reason everyone uses 3 is because they're the only network that allows the forwarding of data over the network all the other mobile networks have stopped it or never allowed it in the first place . However fixed line providers do tend to allow the services to work ie eircom but you need a static ip address from them . Also some wireless broadband providers will allow it to work but you'd want to find out first . Before committing to buying and gear .. hope this helps

    Godmother

Dont know much about these systems, but happened to see the CowCam system from a Swedish company called Luda.
Its made in Europe not China and seemed to be a very high quality product.

Might be the camera system to suit your job?

Why do you need camera, wouldn't a good nights sleep be more valuable during the busy calving season

I work with Calving Camera systems, and we use the following connections if needed 3g - Three, O2, Meteor, or satelite Broadband. which ever is the best for the area.

You don't need a static IP. Most ip cameras have built in functionality to link to a dyndns account. This will constantly update you routers IP address as it changes. You then dont need to know th ip address just the domain name you have setup with the likes of www.dyndns.com.
