Use a rear light during the day?

Later this year I'll be doing Mizen to Malin and I'll be doing a fair bit of training before that. I was wondering what your collective opinion would be on running a red tail light on the bike during the day for extra visibility. Would it assist motorists in seeing me or would it be more of an annoyance than anything else?

I use a red light now again if its very dull. I just wouldn't have it flashing on-off, just set on steady.

I like using one in the city streets at all times, in the country I would also use one if it was dull.

I use a small rear light when it's dull, overcast or raining. Don't bother when it's sunny in the middle of the day.

Always on and flashing for me, gives me some peace of mind.

Got a Smart 1/2 Watt Rear Light recently and its a great little light, very strong:

I put it on flashing when it's very dull.

I have my light on my backpack, and often have it on even when I'm walking around the supermarket.

Next time you see that eejit with a red light on his bag in the shop, come up and say hello.

Same here. Catches the eye even in bright sunlight...
