Looking at 4 new tyres for my Rover 25 There 175/65/R14

    Was looking at http://discounttyres.ie/offers.html

    They have
    Federals for €50 ea
    Pirellis for €60 ea
    Continentals for €72.50 ea
    and Michellin for €70 ea

Which would be the best to go for and does anyone know if the prices include fitting?

I'd go with the Continentals, better grip IMO, althought Federals won't let you down either. fitting is extra, also don't forget to get at least front wheels balanced.

    21/25

Stay as far away from the Federals as is humanly possible. There are plenty of posts on here about them. Not too bad in the dry, but shockingly bad/ dangerous levels of grip in the wet. Their only plus point is that they seem to last forever.

If it was me, from personal experience, I'd go with the Conti's. For safety's sake, the extra €80 odd is nothing.

Camskill will deliver 4 falkens for €186, or 4 uniroyals for €196, 4 continentals (eco contact 3)for €216

That's €84 less for contis, allow €30 for fitting and you're still €54 up

+1 and the same for the Nankangs. From personal experience, in the wet they may well kill you.

I used Flakens on my STis. For the money they are outstanding, but like all very grippy, softer compound tyres they will wear quickly. Falkens all the way IMHO.

The long-lasting tyres that last forever are made from a hard compound better suited to high ambient temperatures and are lethal in our temperate climate.

Thanks everyone for the advice! Thought the prices would include fitting but obviously not.

Out of falkens for €186, or 4 uniroyals for €196, 4 continentals (eco contact 3)for €216 which would be the best. Are the continentals worth the extra €30?

Had Conti Eco contact 2's before, and found them very good in all conditions, until the got to the legal limt. Managed to get around 40,000kms from the 4.

Have Conti Sport Contact 3's on the car now, and the grip is absolutely amazing. But I can't see me getting the same mileage from them.

As to whether the Conti's are worth the extra in your instance, I can't honestly say. But from my experience, they most certainly would be.

You could try "on the spot tyres" if you want. He has a mobile unit covering Dublin. Used william a couple of times , as i found him the cheapest. Have his number or you can look up his website. Worth a try if anything else.

Going by their website , they only sell 2nd hand tyres and dont have a mobile fitting service. Not saying there not good or anything. Just wouldnt be into seconds.

Wouldn't be too fussed on a mobile guy. Ill give him a ring but not willing to pay a premium.

If your not too fussed , dont bother ringing him then. Just thought id try to help you out. You say your not willing to pay a premium , there only 14" and you pay for what you get. You could try alibaba.com , cheap chinese tyres there from €10

The guys buying continentals, I think hes saying he won't pay a premium for a mobile fitter?

No I appreciate the advice but I would guess he would be more expensive then going to a tyre centre. Not willing to pay for him to travel to me.
