RF134... confused

    Hi guys,
I've just bought a car without NCT certificate as the previous owner has lost it. The NCT disk is in place. I'm after getting an RF134 form from the local Garda Station and am filling it up, I am a bit confused though.
There are two options for 'Certificate Of Roadworthiness': 'light' and 'heavy'. Which one should I tick?
The link below shows the template, however it says €3 for 'light' and €7 for 'heavy', and as far as I know it's €12.70 to get a replacement.

Can anyone help me out here, please?

    Thanks in advance

    18. What will I do if I lose my NCT Certificate or NCT Report?

You can replace any of the above for a fee of €12.70. You must go to your local Garda station and obtain an RF134 form, which must be stamped and signed by the Gardaí. Send this completed form back, along with either your windscreen disc or NCT Certificate, whichever part you may still hold, and a bank draft or postal order payable to Applus Car Testing Service Ltd., to: The Test Certificate Administrator, NCTS, Lakedrive 3026, Citywest Business Campus, Naas Road, Dublin 24.

For a replacement NCT Report, simply write in with car registration number, make and model and owner details along with the €12.70 fee to the Test Certificate Administrator at the above address. These fees may be subject to change.

    Now I'm REALLY confused

I'd scribble out "Light" and "heavy", and write "NCT cert" and "€12.70" beside one of the boxes.

A little off topic but before you put in this request be sure the car is in your name and VLC in your posession as otherwise it's likely the replacement NCT will go straight out to the old owner and they will blame "thaa compuuuuthaaaar" for doing it.

Why would you need an nct cert?

I will have to produce a valid NCT cert in the Motor Tax Office, no? I won't get a Tax Disc without it.

Generally people have not been asked for same for five years or more.

tax it online.. you wont be asked for anything except your Insurance details. They already know it is NCTd

You can't get a car taxed online right after you bought it. You have to do it in person for the first time.

is it in your name? If it is , I think you can hit the "retreive PIN" button to get a pin to tax it with....

No need for an NCT to tax a car.

Actually I got a car a few months ago and taxed it online, just checked that a change of ownership had been registered by entering my Reg into their website and as soon as it said it had I taxed it straight away, no problem at all.
