I am looking at a 2007 mazda 6 with 200k kilometers on the clock,it has a full service history. Is that amount of mileage a give away to stay away or is it ok due to the full service history.

Depends on what they're asking for it. I'd have no problem buying a car with high milage for the right price.

I sold my one about 6 months ago with 70k miles on it for 4k and it was a 05. You should look around a bit more

You have to the decision on the condition of the individual car.

You could have a meticulously maintained car with 200k or a car with 80k that's never been serviced.

Petrol 6's are one of the most reliable cars out there so the mileage alone shouldn't be an issue.

200k is still a fair bit of mileage so just a check of the service history should give you an idea of how it's been maintained OP. 200k certainly wouldn't scare me on a Mazda 6 petrol anyway assuming it's been maintained correctly.:)

People are so worried about mileage I have now over 300,000km on my cr and it still as fesh as t was when I bought it with 70odd and it's an 'unreliable' BMW
A well maintained car especially a 6 would be a great car - what kind of cash is involved?

But 200k in 4-5 years means that it's likely to have been mostly motorway mileage so wear would be small compared to a lower mileage car driven mostly in the city(obviously a history check of the car is wise to be sure it wasn't a taxi).

On high mileage cars condition and service history is key, bought a 03 Avensis in march of 2010 that had been a taxi since new. It had 314K miles on it, just there last tuesday it wen in for its 3rd nct since i owned it, failed on airbag light on and rear imbalance on the rear suspension. It had 377K miles on it now, and its a 1.8 petrol.

Agreed. I'm on 200K miles in a 2000 HDi Xantia and same clutch, same everything. Ony things that failed were those that were flagged to fail i.e. rear fuel lift pump, timing belt pulley / tensioner etc. Apart from that, it's been Xantia suspension bits such as spheres, a height correcter, and then the usual such as drop links etc. NO engine or gearbox trouble. There couldn't be on this model of Xantia. I know of one with 450K pulling like a train. Its not unusual and its defo not unusual when talking about Avensis. All down to regular oil & filter changes and a good owner.

377,000 miles? That's unbelievable. Is it still on the original engine? For most cars getting to 200,000 miles is an achievement. Just goes to show what proper servicing and maintenance can do for a car.

We have had three Transporter 2005 LWB vans all of which have had around 380,000miles before being sold off.

One however we are keeping, and the skys the limit. Well for the next year or so.

Also have had a caddy van with 480,000kms (300,000 odd miles) before being written off two years ago.
    It's was a 2005 1.9tdi.

A few years ago I had a regular customer who had a carina e taxi which was about to pass the 500,000 MILE mark when it got rear ended and written off:(

I've put 14k on my own van in the 2 months since I bought it and I'm actually interested to see(given most peoples opinions on mileage in this country) how many kms I can put on it without any non serviceable parts failing.
