    Hi All.

I'd like to get your opinion on something.

I have a Nursing Degree and also a Masters Degree in Nursing Education. I am considering doing the GAMSAT this March 2012. I did honours level chemistry, physics and biology for leaving cert and did pretty well in them. However, that was 11 years ago! Hence would be extremely rusty in these subjects! My written communication and essay writing would also need some brushing up!

I work mon-fri 9-5 and have my weekends off. Do ye think 8-10weeks study taking my work schedule into consideration is leaving a lot to be desired in sitting the GAMSAT? Would it be a better idea to leave it till next year 2013? I dont really want to be throwing away 300 EURO if it would be an impossible feet?

    Help Much appreciated.

Personally, I went into the GAMSAT with about 2 weeks prep and 2/3 chemistry grinds off a friend and did very well on a background of a business degree and only honours level physics 7 years prior.

So, it's certainly not impossible. It depends a lot on how you think, how comfortable you are with sciences and your approach to exams. If you know the fundamentals of the sciences and know how to analyse problems quickly I think you'll be alright. And remember! half of the exam isn't anything to do with science :)

Thanks Tazzle, may I ask how you got on in the GAMSAT? Did you get the course you wanted with those few weeks prep?

P.S. Turns out my fiance knows you from your CS days... :)

    Hey Sligo1

I think you are in a great position having the sciences down!
I am doing the same as you, cram cram cram for the next few weeks... I am a law graduate so I'm in a much worse position for the sciences, although probably an ok position with the written communication. I am going to do a gradmed intensive revision course it runs for three weekend just before the exam. I am kind of doing the March sitting as a trial run (but hoping miracles will happen) and will prob sit GAMSAT UK aswell in September.
I also work long days so have the weekends!! My friend is doing graduate medicine now and loves it!
I'm sure you will fly them with your nursing background!
Positive thinking is all I keep saying..but apparently Gradmed is the way to go if thats any help!!

    I'm not sitting Gamsat but I've been the told the following is pretty useful;
Everything you need for Section three right here.
e.g. for Year one undergrad Chemistry
    http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/chemistry/

IMO The lectures from MIT opencourseware are the very best.

Khan academy is also very good (scroll down the page for videos on Physics, Chemistry, Biology etc).

If it's something you sure you want, I'd recommend just going for it this year, if anything to be familiar with the timing involved and who knows, you might get it, just go for it!
