Where to rent a luxury car for wedding in France?

I'm getting married near Bordeaux in the south of France in early May and was toying with the idea of renting a luxury car, either for the full week we're there or just for 1-2 days for the wedding itself if budget doesn't allow a full week.

When I click on the Prestige range on the Hertz website, it says 'or similar' so you don't know for sure what car you'll get. I had a quick search on the web but the places I found require emailing them to get a quote (I'ved mailed one to get a gauge on price range) and some of them looked like sloppy sites which is off-putting, others look very slick and have Lamborghinis and what have ya which I'm pretty sure are out of my price range.

Does anyone have any tips for either getting a slick car via a standard rental company or good companies to use for luxury cars? Absolute most I can go is up to a grand: standard compact rental for the week would probably be something like €300 so this would give me €700 on top of that, maybe getting the luxury car just for 1-2 days, though it doesn't need to be a totally top end car like a Ferrari, a slick Jaguar, Audi, Merc or something like that would be perfect.

If you go with the likes of Hertz or Avis, you'll get the similar in a particular class. So if you pick E-Class or similar, then the worst you could get stung with is an A6, the best being either the Merc or a Jag XF. 5-Series is nice too. If you're happy with an A6, then go for that. An S80 or Saab 95 would be considered below these in terms of rentals, so you should be OK.

Best off ringing the depot in advance to see if they actually have that car and if its available on those days.

I rented from Hertz before, was supposed to be a Jag XF, got a BMW 525D instead.

Ya, I booked a C-Class or similar, ended up with a poxy A4. Such disappointment.
Hertz have a Fun Collection that guarantee the car you book is the car you'll get.

Thanks folks, I'll definitely keep that in mind if I go the Hertz/Avis/other route.

What I was really hoping for though was to hear of anyone's experience hiring luxury cars in Europe. I emailed this crowd http://europeluxurycarhire.com more with the intention of getting a ballpark quote to work from (as I tend to have suspicion of sites I don't know until I've heard what seems like reliable word of mouth feedback) but when they emailed back and I then called them I was very impressed. It's run by an English guy living in Spain with 30 staff across 17 locations and he seemed very genuine and helpful: my budget means I'm clearly at the low-end of their offering so I felt it almost wouldn't be worth his while (their top end is the likes of a Ferrari 458 for €1,800 per day!) but as it's for my wedding he seemed genuinely interested in finding something that'll work in my budget (maybe a supercharged Jaguar) so he's looking into it and getting back to me.

Just wanted to post that update to see if anyone has good/bad experiences with this company or could recommend others and also if there's any watch-outs for renting luxury cars (naturally I'll have to thoroughly read the fine print on liability and insurance)?

Cheers afrodub, would be interested to talk to your contacts, was more thinking of a saloon but would have a look at the Range Rover option for sure and they may have other options. Do they work in Paris or do they cover all of France (Bordeaux is quite a way down south)? Thanks.

Not sure if your post was to take the p1ss but the guy I spoke to actually said he'd more likely look at bringing an available car in from Germany or Italy as they didn't base much in France as if you do you have to pay crazy insurance/rates etc. If you have any actual info on renting from Germany (particularly into France), I'd be all ears...
