    Another little known fact is that Bob was the second person to play James Bond. In 1954 on a US tv play Barry Nelson played Bond in a version of Casino Royale. In 1957 Bob played him in a South African radio play version of Moonraker.

    That is very sad news. Bob was a terrific presenter on Blockbusters. There were a few attempts to revive the show, and it never worked without him.

    RIP Bob.

    (And if you read anywhere that Bob Holness played the Saxophone Solo on the Gerry Raferty song 'Baker Street', It's a myth)

    Always hard to comment on TV personalities, but he seemed like a decent sort of chap. I think it was Dom Jolly who did a wind up interview with him, but Bob was ever the gent and very polite. (I hope I'm not getting him mixed up) :)
