Is it worth picking up Paul?

My own 1980's experiences of Scalextric involved much excitement, followed by great disappointment as the cars /track / controller all ceased to function within 48hrs of unboxing.

Admittedly, some small advances in micro-technology may have occurred since then. :D

Its fine. The track is a reasonable length for a starter set and the cars handle well. It seems the track is now magnetised somewhat which helps grip although they will fly off ( a good distance too :D) if the pedal is to the metal and you don't have the barriers in the right spot. It also has an integrated lapcounter with tiny numbers which, with the cars whizzing around at lightning speed, is the only way to know who is in the lead.

This is the micro version so everything is obviously smaller and judging from the Scalextric website, extra track is not in plentiful supply.

Personally I think it is great set for young children. Older kids will tire quickly of it

My own 1980's experiences of Scalextric involved much excitement, followed by great disappointment as the cars kept flying off the track and i had to go under sofas and tables to try and retrieve them!

My own 1980's experiences of Scalextric involved much excitement, followed by great disappointment as I could only play it at my friends house whose parents were obviously loaded and my parents bought me the cheaper version which was pretty average.

I feel sorry for you Brian. I'm married to one of them as well. I even said "can we get it for the kids?"
    She said "no"
    I said "why not?"
She said "they are girls and they don't want a f***in scalextric, that's why"

€10.50 - maynooth. One piece missing. Already have this one http://scalextric.hornby.com/shop/sets/micro-scalextric/?page=2 for the little speed racer, so not too bothered about missing piece of track. Checked box and everything else in included :)
