this is gonna be short and sweet! - me and the boyfriend living together the last 2 years at the same address. I work full time, the boyfriend is on the the dole (currently on FAS work placement scheme). We never registered as cohabiting. Now I'm pregnant so I want him to register as cohabiting. We plan to move house in April. It would probably be easier to wait til the change of address and register but I would prefer it was done now. We were gonna say we got together over the Xmas. Any advice?

PS I posted this anon the other day coz I couldn't remember my log in. After 2 days it still hasn't been posted so if it turns up ignore it!

This was the situation me and my partner where in a few years ago he point blank refused to register as cohabiting with me so when I fell pregnant he had no choice so we said I moved in with him over the christmas and everything was fine.

As your working as was I he will be means tested on your income meaning his dole will be reduced and you will have to take up most of the financial slack which can cause friction depending on your expendable now and what it will be after your means tested, also if he is getting rent allowance depending on your income this may be stopped or reduced so be prepared for tightening the belt financially

The best thing about coming clean is a huge sense of relief and not lying any more so for me it worked out for the best, best of luck to you and your partner and congratulations on your good news

If you have been living together for the last two years and your partner is claiming I presume jobseekers allowance and you are working was your income assessed as means when he was means tested for jsa. If not then he has been defrauding sw for that period if he is receiving more on jsa than what he was entitled to.
