Somehow I find it difficult to believe he was getting revenge. More likely he was just a <PC Term> miscreant </PC Term> doing it for fun.

You can set the one I got(looks like its the same as the one in that clip) to motion detect mode when you park up. Not great if you park somewhere busy though:P

Silly work won't let me onto that page.

Very keen on ND's DashCam set up though.

Is it time to start a DashCam thread folks ?

I got this one yesterday, I think it's the same as ND's. So far so good, it's decent enough for the price.

I've the same dash cam as posted in Absurdum's link. Bear in mind that it's not a HD cam...ie the resolution is pretty poor (640x480 IIRC) and is upscaled.
Still, it's a very handy bit of kit for a paltry €20! :)

    Thats still good resolution.

I've a GoPro recording at 720 and it's generally crystal clear.

Yeah..but that's 1280x720 :). The problem with the low resolution is that it's very difficult to make out the reg plates of other cars in the video's...unless you're stationary right behind another vehicle.

I got one too and have it set up at a good angle. Do you have it plugged into the cigarette lighter or do you just leave it going off the battery?

I don't want a cable dangling down from the window too often and I dunno if I'm arsed wiring it up..

Yeah I have one too but not the best option for this recording given the lack of loop recording. I have switched mine for one of the cheaper cams with looping. Quality nowhere near as good though.

A 16GB would be plenty fine.

With respect to a wire dangling down, Wire it along the ceiling / windscreen threshold, down the pillar and under the passenger dash.

No reason why it can't be neat if peoperly done.

Well I want to connect if to the fuse box on the drivers side end of the dash - you have to open the door to get at it. Hiding the wire won't be a problem it can easily be pushed under the trim leading down there.

    i have 2 questions though:
    1) where do I get one of those special fuses for connecting devices to the fuse box 9there is a name for these - I forget
    2) do I cut the wires off at the cigaretter charger end and connect them to the fuse. What is the best way to do this. Can i get a separate wire to go fromt he fuse box to power the device without cutting wires ?

Wow so you get a blurry few stills of a guy who in all probability will never be identified, never mind prosecuted.
