Hi there - i have a 1994 e36 and it failed the NCT on a corroded rear offside brake line. Does anyone know how big a job this is to replace? Is it possible just to replace the brake line into the cylinder or do i need to replace the lines under the fuel tank?

    TIA

Hi there I do Afew of these on bm,s every week as its a common fault on them normally the brake lines go bad from the brakes up to around the tank do the common practise we use is cut the brake line half way up the car near the gear box say and join it there and then run the new line up over the tank and into the brakes.as some of the nct centres can be snagy of u just do the tiny bit where it's corroded, they then go looking for more corrosion best bet is do as I say first time around and ul be fine

Thanks for that. Does the tank have to come out to do it the way you described? Gonna get some quotes to do the job next week - How much time/money is involved in getting it sorted?

Some might tell u the thank has to be dropped but that's someone that hasn't done it.u might have to loosen the bracket in the tank a small bit but not much.to be honest I never c the bills where I work I'm just the worker bee ha ha but from experience if I was to do it for a friend r that you'd be looking somewhere around the 150e mark
