Anyone know what was going on in the Phoenix park about 12pm today.
Huge amounts of runners out. Maybe some lunchtime training groups.

Rarely in the park at the time and just had me wondering.

    Cheers,

    NT

I noticed a load more yesterday at lunchtime along clontarf strand. I just put it down to NY resolutions

Ringsend Park was a lot busier than normal with lunchtime runners. I'd usually see one or two others- saw maybe a dozen yesterday and conditions were really bad.

I am seeing loads out here in Cork too. Come a month 4 out of 5 of them will be gone.

There will be a few more people out again just before summer holidays start.

I feel sorry for them as they don't enjoy it. :( if only they would relax and slow down

I've also noticed surges in runners just before the Dublin marathon too. I often wonder how many entered ages before and are trying to cram training in at the last minute!

erm...no idea...that kind of thing is daft...who in their right mind would do a thing like that for a marathon.

The event will be accurately timed and a digital clock at the finish will allow you to check your performance.
    Wow a digital clock!

You mean the part where some people were basically foaming at the mouth because some "fast" people entered this as well, egotistically taking away places from "bigger" guys who needed this so much more ..... and then the even didn't sell out anyway?

Yeah that part and a few others :D
I definitely can't do it this year because donadea 50k is the same day so there is no point in me starting a thread (again).

You people should setup a parkrun in Dublin.

Just* find a park, get people to turn up each week and run, costs them nothing, everyone gets a free 5km run a week and the results up online later that day.

*May be a bit more to it than "just" anything.
