Hi i have a grant oil boiler heating my 4 bed 1800sqft house. On the boiler is a thermostat but it dosent give a a temp reading on it. It has a thin to wide band. There is one little notch at the lowest setting. Is there any set point i should hav it at like 1/4" turn from lowest or
Something. I hav it at lowest at moment and the stat on my HW tank only gets to 45deg after the oils been on for 1hr heating the HW. If i turn it up will i use more oil. The boiler is cutting in very regular at moment like only turns off for bout 1min then back on again for about 5mins.

The range on the boiler is from 55 to 75deg C.

Condensing boilers are on and off more often than older non condensing types, so what you decribe is normal.

Thanks, so if i go halfway between full turn left to right it should be about 65deg. Would that b a good setting. Does this mean though that it would b burning more oil or would it not make much diff?

Correct me if i'm wrong but i believe the stat ranges between 65 to 80°C on a Vortex Condensing , and in the present mild winter you really shouldn't need to turn it much above the minimum mark, trial and error with comfort levels will tell.
