CRC disk error/scandisk

I have a 60GB IDE disk as the main HDD in my main laptop. Its probably 4-5 years old. XP Pro. Recently I've had some CRC errors reported by utorrent; one particular torrent got to 90+ % complete, then failed with a CRC error, now when I recheck it it reports it again at 16%. I understand the way torrents work, most of the data is there, downloaded non-sequentially, but the check is sequential.

I did a full disk check, scheduled for reboot, recently, with autofix errors and surface scan. I expected this to detect bad sectors and reallocate - it did claim to reallocate a sector(/group of) while I was watching (from one of the affected torrents). After this reboot I restarted utorrent and did another recheck. Still fails on CRC error.

What more can I do ?

If a part of the download was stored in a corrupt sector of the drive then you'll need to redownload.

Tbh, I'd be backing up anything important and replacing the drive pronto.

Yes your harddrive is on the way out, backup your data now while you can and replace it
