New rent supplement ceilings have been introduced this week. Existing tenants will be asked to renegotiate rent with their landlords if it is higher than the new rate, when it comes up for review in the next few months. The old maximum levels are here and the new maximum levels are here.

That is a HUGE drop for a single person in Dublin - 50 euro a month. There is no way my landlord's going to accept a drop of 600 euro a year, I'll be out on my ear.

I see the old Rate in Dublin Fingal area was 350. I have a tennant on rent supplement who was only given 280 per month even though they have the biggest room with an en-suite! What dictates how much they are allowed on rent supplement ie Double room en suite in one area is not worth as much as one in another?

I think its down to what they are getting paid. Room size dosn't matter and as of the 1st of this month the tenant receiving rent allowance has to contribute a minimum of €30 a week themselves.

Posted in the wrong thread by mistake! My ceiling has been reduced by 75 pm, how am i meant to explain that to my landlord? I'm counting the pennies as it is. Its not right what they're doing to people i feel sick!!

Put them in the box room or smaller room and rent out the ensuite to someone else

Why would you do that? The rent is being paid...

I read that post as the poster felt they were not getting enough for the double ensuite, the best room in the house

If they feel they are not getting enough there are options

Similar thread was over in accommodation forum last month
