interview questions for hibernia secondary teacher dip

I have my interview for the course next week and i was wondering if any one could give me some advice about the interview and on the type of questions that they are likely to ask.

Not sure about this course but I completed my hdip in the Uk.

Interview Q's ran along the lines of classroom scenarios,
What strengths/weaknesses i have.
Why i want to be a teacher.
Why i chose the subjects I did for my degree,
What sports i do or what I could contribute to the school in the lines of extra curricular.
Subject questions included what areas of my subject would students find hard to understand and how would I approach this as a teacher.
Oh also asked what makes a good teacher!

If I may say one thing, I really hope you have shortage subjects as I'm 4 years out of college and am currently unemployed. I pick up subbing here and there but its not enough and I will be leaving this career.
If you are planning on travelling after your hdip fair play, but teaching jobs in Ireland are few and far between and next September will be abismal. Thats with my subjects at least but i know so many others who are in the same boat (and with different subjects to me)

Are the post primary interviews going on already? I didnt think people were called yet? How did you get on?

I did my interview back in September and started last october. Got asked alot of general questions but here's a rough guideline from one of the forums I was tracking back then.

"Just some topics for the interview for future reference to those who will be taking the interview in future :-)

Hibernia Post Primary Interview Topics

1. Syllabus/Curriculum
 Know teaching guidelines for your subject
 Review recent past papers at JC and LC level
 Know different sections of your subject
 What do you think are the most challenging, boring, interesting areas according to you
 What are the different ways to teach them
 Have there been any changes or recent developments to your subject(s)


2. Personal Statement/Application
 Your interest in the course/teaching
 Questions on your degree and time in college
 Questions about your subjects
 Any experience you have and relate them to teaching.


3. Classroom Management
 Discipline
 Teaching techniques
 Difficult situations which could arise
 Different types of learning styles

4. ICT
 Technology and communication in teaching
 Its benefits and advantages
 How it can be used. "

They wont really go into extreme detail about anything but just have a general idea of each

Hey I am just wondering what kind of questions will be asked in relation to the subjects the person is doing. For intance I am going for history and cspe and just wondering does anyone know what kind of questions will be asked in relation to these subjects?
