    ...about a manual transmission car.

Can anyone explain why this would be the case?

    Transmission change?

I had a Mitsubishi FTO that started life as an automatic, but was manual by the time I had it.

I'd imagin a mistake or a conversion being done on the car are the most obvious.

    What car is it?

A pretty standard Astra. Would have thought transmission changes would be rare on everyday cars.
Mistake was what came to mind.

If it says Automatic on the Motorcheck website there's a good chance that it says Automatic on the logbook (VLC) too. If you'd like to PM me the reg I'll look into it for you.

ring a dealer with the VIN number and they can check if it came from the factory with manual or ayto gearbox.

I second above, dealer can tell you factory spec once you have the chassis number.

my car comes up as an auto box.. even though it has always been a manual since the day it left the factory.
Its just a glitch in the data entry method.

    i wouldnt worry about it.

just be sure to tell your insurer that it is and always has been a manual, they are well used to meeting this glitch.

When i renewed my insurance last time round the girl on the phone said that it was the 3rd car that day that she had dealt with that had an incorrect transmission listed.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Motorcheck has kindly emailed Opel to get to the bottom of it.

Word back from Opel is that it's a manual.

Many thanks to Shane from Motorcheck.
