Suggestions for Single Room Bangkok

Travelling solo but meeting some friends in Bangkok. Will be there a few nights before them & want a single room (no dorms) in a hostel or hotel. Somewhere clean & safe with air con & near shops/sights etc but not in mentally noisy or seedy area either. Will be getting there late at night so would need to be somewhere easy to get to from the airport, particularly as I'm fairly nervous about arriving in Bangkok alone late at night.

    All suggestions/experiences welcome, thanks a mil :)

Do you know where your friends will be staying? Near them might suit you as it's a big city.

As for arriving late at night, it's a pretty safe city and if you're getting a taxi from the airport you won't have any traffic issues so where you stay won't make a lot of difference.

Check out Lub-d Hostels in Bangkok.
They've got 2 hostels in the city, pretty close to each other, in decent parts of the city.

I have stayed in both, both have good facilities and are clean, with wifi and air con.

You can get to both from the airport by taking the train from the airport and transferring to stations near the hostels.

You should be able to find them on hostelbookers or whatever, they also have their own website.

    Good Luck and enjoy.

the one at Siam Square is new as the website says.

If you choose this one you have to visit the closeby Jim Thompson's House. It's a 5-min walk from Siam Square hostel.

It's a must do for Thailand let alone Bangkok imo.
