I was driving home tonight when i saw a ghost

It ran across the road in front of me but disappeared before it made it to the other side about 10m in front of my car. I watched it for about 3 seconds.

It only struck me after I got home that this is the site of a very recent road fatality.

Wow that's pretty unreal! Were you scared or did it not sink in until after the fact? I'd be skeptical though open minded to everyone's experiences. I'd actually love to see a ghost....then again perhaps not :)

I'm just saying that she didn't see a ghost.

Ok let me start another thread to illustrate my point.

With respect, you need to post better quality replies here or you will just come across as a nasty troll.

Go back to how teacher made you reply to stuff in school:

"I dont think you saw a ghost because...." and if you say they dont exist etc, say why.

Brief replies like yours do nothing but antagonise.

Well since he said he was driving at the time, I highly doubt it!

Reminds me of an incident that are friend of mine swears to this day happened, even his wife who is now deceased saw it at the time.

They were driving at night and they saw a pair of legs walk in front of the car, nothing above the legs, just legs. They walked in front of a truck coming the other way. Truck didn't seem to brake or anything so whether the driver saw them or not he doesn't know. This happened around Drumsna Co. Leitrim on the N4 about 10 years ago.

sometimes it can be the strangest things in the most ordinary situtations that only after the fact you realise 'What the Hell?!' Interesting that you say it was the scene of a recent road accident. That really could be something to do with it (obviously :D) wow that really is amazing keep an eye out in future if you travel that way regularly. And by the way hope you okay after seeing something..:)

Now I don't really believe in these things having never seen any evidence of ghosts but I do wonder if I once saw a ghost of an accident victim a week before he was killed.
Some years ago, before the M4 was constructed, I was driving the work van near Broadford between Enfield and Kinnegad when I saw a motorcyclist in the rearview mirror about 2 or 3 cars behind me. He stood out because he was wearing an old style crash helmet, the type you used to see 40 or 50 years ago, painted silver. Not unusual in it's own right except that when I looked again a few secs later he had disappeared. I know he hadn't overtaken me and I "don't think" he had turned off the road because there were no side roads along that section.
Exactly one week later to the hour, there was a report on the radio of a motorcyclist killed in an accident at or close to that same spot.

Probably no connection at all but i've often wondered about it.

Where is that road? I live near Ennistymon but I have never heard of Rathchurch. it's not the old road up by the factory heading towards Lahinch that goes by the Pauper's Graveyard by any chance?

On the N4 near the flyover for Drumsna there is said to be a "fairy crossing". There have been a lot of fatal crashes on this particular section of road. Maybe it had something to do with this?

The most stand out story that I have about ghosts on roads is one that myself and three family members share.

My father was driving us home Christmas night about five years ago from my Aunt's house in Kilcullen, Co Kildare, we were heading towards the Curragh. My mom, dad, younger sister (she was about 23, I was 25 at the time) and I were in the car together, when we reached a Kinneagh Cross my sister and I both looked up onto the road and screamed at my dad to watch out for the man standing in the middle of the road. My dad turned back to us and asked the two of us had we gone mad that there was nothing there! But we both screamed it at the same time, and kept repeating it. I can still see him in my head. He was a tall man wearing an old-style cream/ light brown mac and didn't seem to be transparent or anything like that- he just looked like a normal man.. apart form the fact that he was standing in the middle of the road on Christmas night. That night my uncle was rushed to hospital in London for open-heart surgery.

Anyway..myself and my sister thought nothing of the whole occurance apart to reiterate that we really thought that we saw this figure until about a week later my mom's best friend and my Aunt (who are both quite "sensitive" to the other side let's say- as am I but I know everyone has an opinion on that, but let's just say we believe and have seen, heard and felt quite a bit) were up in our house and my dad proceeds to tell them the story of Christmas night..but with one addition to the story, that the girls and "I" saw this ghost/ man/ figure in the middle of the road on the way home Christmas night , I turned to dad and was like "You saw him? " Dad explained that he had seen him but he knew what this meant to our family so he tried to ignore it and brush it off to the two of us.

So my aunt straight away goes ashen and asks me can I remember anything about the figure, I say that he was wearing a mac and was dark haired and quite tall..she then proceeds to tell me that she has seen this man twice, on that same patch of road. Both times were before a member of our family died...in her case it was her son- my cousin and her father- my grandfather. Like I said my uncle was rushed to hospital for surgery that night, he flatlined on the operation table but they brought him back.

Believe it if you want but it happened- I can see remember what this man looked like and I hate driving that patch of road now...I'd love to close my eyes whenever I come to it but obviously that's not going to happen :)

Only revisiting here since I first posted this and surprised with the response.

I was driving to a family members funeral on Monday with my sisters when we passed the point where I had the sighting which prompted me to tell them about what happened.

One of my sisters asked me to detail exactly what I saw. I didnt say or even intimate what I had seen but she proceeded to describe exactly what I saw as she had witnessed exactly the same form on the road from Limerick to Tipperary about 6 months ago. (Not the same location as me)

What I saw was the lower trunk but primarily legs of a tall adult male.

Was I scared? No. Startled yes as I thought I was going to hit it with my car but in no doubt about what I saw. It was just matter of fact. It happened, drive on. It was, I believe, my third sighting so maybe that helped.

My first sighting was a 5 year old child on our landing 30 odd years ago that I can see to this day. Some context to the origin of this child has recently been completed for me by chance although the person who provided this information isn't aware of the sighting I had.

The second sighting I experienced, I wont share.

With respect, it was on a motorway and I was going 130kph - Never use your mobile while driving. One thing I am thankful for however, was that I was so startled that I did slow down considerably.

About 10 miles up the road, I was caught by a cross wind(night of the bad winds if you want to check the weather reports against the date that I posted) that took me across to the far lane. Had I maintained my speed, I'm convinced I would have crashed. Chance or a sign? Make of that as you will.

I know the grotto in Corofin alright. Kilnaboy is the place with the church I think, or do you mean that you went to Kilfenora where there is a church also on the right but the junction is actually a sort of Y. Also, when you mention the Lahinch road, are you talking about the road from Ennis that goes to Ennistymon and then you have to cross over the bridge to get onto the road to Lahinch? I only ask because my mam is from Ennistymon and knows the area outside Ennistymon very well so that knowing exactly where you saw what you say might help me find out if there was anything that happened there. Could you find the spot on a map?

Scary when it happens . My mam always says its like u have stepped into a "window " and mostly these sightings are benign and mean no harm . However not all are that way . I am superstitious I may be be interested in knowing about these things but I would not knowingly stay in a haunted house . Our old house is haunted so yes I stay away from that place now ! If they want to be there . They are welcome to it .
