NCT Fail advice

I recently bought a 2000 ford focus 1.4 it had 110000 on the clock and cost me 850 with a few thing to be fixed before it would pass the NCT so I fixed a few bits (tyres, drop links, handbrake cable on one side) also did a full service including spark plugs and air filter and put it through the test. and it failed on the following:

    Parking brake effort:

    Result: 14%
    Pass: 16%
Would tightening the cable at the handbrake lever sort this as there is only an imbalance of 7% I had planned on doing this before the test but never got the chance.

    Worn inner tie rod end:

Thought I might fail on something suspension related as there was a noise when travelling over uneven surfaces, even after replacing the drop links. Shouldn't be too big a problem.

    Exhaust Emisions:

    Engine/oil Temp:82C
Lambda: 1.02 Pass: not between 0.97 & 1.03 (this had a pass in the results column)

    Low idle:
    CO: 1.09% Pass: <.50%
    HC:568ppm

    High idle(3030)
    CO:0.83% Pass: <.30%
    HC:116ppm

Anyone have any suggestions for what this might be, catalytic converter, O2 sensor? From reading other threads these seem quite high could a hard drive and diphane really sort this or what is needed? (I'd rather fix this properly but wouldn't mind just getting it through the test for now.)

Track rod end and hanbrake should be simple.no problem at all but it could be worn brake shoes did u not check the crack rods before the test.u could try the long hard drive and the diphtine(think that's how u spell it).other wise if that is still there you have something else causing it to be like that it could very well be the cat but it could also be a number of other this.but this is the trouble for buying a car for low money isn't u never no what ur gona get really.u could end up spending more then it's worth

Thanks for your reply, I had a quick look at the track rods when I was doing the droplinks but didn't notice any looseness! Think I might fix what I can and try the diphtine and the hard drive and see how it gets on in the retest. Anyone have anything else I can try?
