Lately my washing machine is tripping the electricity. its happening when the machine is draining /rinsing near the end of the cycle. This doesn't happens too often. I have checked for water leaks and checked the plugs and can't find any problem there so it could be the element or something else in the machine. Should l get someone to check it out and get charge for call out and new parts or should l get a new washing machine? l can't make up my mind.
(I have the washing machine for 13 yrs and Its electolux. Only gave trouble once and had it repaired.)

If l do buy one, what brand should l go for?
    Beko
    LG
    Zannussi

Some repairers dont charge for call out anymore, just ring around.

stop using it until you get it checked out. It could be as simple as worn motor brushes which, considering the age of your machine, is very likely. Brushes would be cheap to replace. If you keep using it, you risk frying the controller board which would be more expensive to replace (assuming you can find one).

Happened to my machine last night - brushes were worn right down, shorted out and blew tracks off the controller board before the breaker tripped. I'm tempted to have a go at a repair cos it's been rock solid for >10 years but will probably just buy a new one.

Agree, sounds like it could well be just brushes.

most common fauits with washing machines are the brushes as stated by the people above. you ll find them in the motor of the washing machine . best thing to do is remove them check and see are they worn. these are fairly cheap and most electrical appliance repair companies would have these for sale.

This was happening with our machine, we could use a cold wash but any hot wash would trip the circuit. Found out today its the control board. Will have to get a new machine as its not worth the money to get it repaired.

Repaired my machine this evening, just finished the first wash. Total cost EUR18 for a new set of brushes. Had to solder in some links to jump the blown tracks on the board - new board is ~EUR200 so would not have been worth replacing.
