    Hi All,

Ok so I've reached the end of my tether. I have a licence for Windows Vista and intended to upgrade my dads xp pc. I downloaded vista, and installed a virtual drive on the relevant PC. I mounted the .iso from usb onto the xp machine.

PC went through all the checks and began saving info prior to the upgrade I walked away from the machine for a few minutes (I've performed this upgrade several times and know how long it takes). When I got back, the screen was black with a white blinking cursor. The PC is now basically stuck at this point. It boots and I can access the boot menu, but cannot access xp, nor will it continue the vista install. I've tried burning the .iso image to a dvd and booting from the dvd drive, no joy, the bios doesnt allow for boot from USB (this may be the issue).

Thankfully I came accross a program (Hirens Boot) which allowed me recover all my data. Any ideas how I can get the pc back up and running? Be it on XP or Vista. I dont have the recovery cds for xp, and cannot boot to the partition either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
