    Well lads, quick question.

Just got one of those ePad's from China there running Android 2.3 for the laugh.

Have been trying all day to get it connected to WiFi to no avail.
It doesn't find any network, or list and AP's - despite being right beside the router.

I've a feeling the actual adapter could be faulty, but hope not - don't want to go sending it back across the pond!

Have connected to the internet using the ethernet cable no problem, but the WiFi option sources no connections whatsoever.

    Any ideas?

Would a rooting of this tablet possibly fix it?

    Cheers.

i doubt rooting it would have any direct effect but, depending on what kind of community there is, you might find a better radio etc that you could try installing.

as a test, of sorts, if it can run as a wifi hotspot try turning it on and see if your other devices can pick it up. that might show if there is any life in it or not.

you could also go on a bit of a walkabout, and see if it detects hotspots out and about.
it could be too much interference if there are a bunch of routers nearby using the same channel (try changing the broadcast channel on your router also)

if it cant pick anything up when you are out and about then its a problem with the tablet. google for the make and model and see if there are others with the issue and you might find a community update that fixes it. otherwise, start looking up postage rates ;)

Can you explain the adapter part a bit more? The Wifi antenna is usually built into these devices....some of them have an adapter to allow you to use it with ethernet or 3G cards

Could ya send us a link to the site you bought it from, i.e. the product page? Could do with a list of specs.

Certainly is built in - a guy over in the Bargain Alerts forum opened it up and posted a picture of the inside. WiFi adaptor is #2.
Tried everything with my router today but no luck - sickening!

Try changing the channel on your wireless router to a different/lower number.

I know my Nexus S does not pick up channels 12 and 13 from any wireless router, so that may the issue you are having.

Cheers but tried that as well, everything from 1-11 tried - no luck.
Indeed almost tried everything at this stage - viewed a log of the router yesterday and saw an Android device trying to connect; thought there was hope, then just remembered it was when I plugged the ethernet cable into it!
