Before I switched to a road bike I used to commute on a hardtail with these tyres.
    They're absolutely fantastic, highly recommended.

Have a set of Schwalbe City Jet on a hardtail, no complaints.

Those city jets are really good value and hard as nails, but they've bugger all grip in the wet. I run kojaks - Really like them, but I can't see them having a long life.

The Conti Grand Prix will give you the best possible grip with it's black chili compound. Available here for €22 each inc. delivery in 26" x 1 1/8" size.

Remember - your level of grip depends on how much rubber is on the ground so you'll always have more grip with a wider tyre at lower pressure.

I have a pair of the Conti's if anyone is interested in them for €30, will throw in the tubes as well. They were used a couple of times (maybe 30 miles on them?) so like new.
