Satellite broadband suffers from high latency, and this would make online gaming a nightmare.

Would have to agree, even if you had a good connection (as good connection as a satellite can offer) you might get a half decent game of FIFA or that out of it. But if your a keen FPS gamer (call of duty/Battlefield,etc) like myself, the satellite wouldn't be ideal at all and will only frustrate you.

Unless its your only option for broadband internet in your location, i'd try get in eircom or UPC or some form of hardlined connection

Hi i was only talking to a friend earlier who has satellite internet and just got a ps3 for christmas. Every time he is online and someone in the house goes on the laptop his connection goes.

Just won't work. Have you tried three? I use them and a ping test normally gives me something around the 90ms mark. Not fantastic but certainly playable.

Satellite pings are around the 800ms mark :(
