    Hi everyone
Im new to this site, 32 and ttc for two and half years, just had hysteroscopy, lap dye test in October 2011 which all came back normal, the gyne says its my short cycle which ranges anywhere from 23 to 27 days that is the problem. Dh had semen analysis the first came back abnormal but the second was fine, we have been referred to the Hari, and awaiting since Nov on a letter from them, I didn't think it would take this long for them to contact me,sent them an email this morning hopefully they will reply. Just wondering is there anything i should be doing to prepare myself for it, my GP is fairly old and not much help. Do i need to have a smear test done, should i be loosing weight, am 5ft 4 and half and weigh 11st 12lb. How long before i hear anything from the Hari. Any advise will be much appreciated smile.gif

In my fertility clinic (not HARI), the appointment letter came about a month or so beforehand and detailed all the blood tests our GP's would need to do so the results would be ready at the appointment time. I expect that most clinics do similar.

You will need an up to date smear, and its no harm to try to improve eating habits - more fruit and veg, you should start folic acid right away, and if you like, other prenatal vitamins. Same for himself, he can take conception vitamins and diet improvement - you should ban him from hot baths, and both try to quit cigarettes if you smoke, and keep within the weekly maximum alcohol units.

Outside of that, keep track of whatever cycles you have, you will probably be asked about them in the clinic so bring the details with you.

    Hi Fluffyduck,

We had the following tests done before being referred to a consultant:

    Me
-Day 3 and day 21 bloods to check hormone levels.
-Blood test to confirm I was rubella immune (I wasn't so had to have two vaccinations, during which you can't conceive so this set us back a couple of months so I would definitely recommend getting this done asap).
    -Chlamydia test
-Smear had to be up-to-date (within 2 years)

    Hubby
    -Semen analysis.

If you are going to the Hari and going public you can expect to be waiting a few months I think. We are going privately to MFC and got an appointment within about 6 weeks. We have been told there are a few more things we need to do before our consultation:

    Me:
    -Repeat day 3 bloods
    -Ultrasound

    Hubby
    -Repeat semen analysis.

I would second Neyite's advice to start eating healthy as our documentation from the clinic said they would only treat if you had a BMI of between 19 - 30. You are around the same height and weight as me so I think you are within that range but I am still trying to lose a few pounds.

    Best of luck with everything.

Oh Nybabe, I had the bloods hyst lap and dye test done and dh had sa done, I hope we dont have to go through all that again , is it normal for that to be done more than once? We went private for these tests so will be going private to hari too. I wish all the best to you and your husband hopefully our dreams will be fulfilled and all get to hold that precious little life in our arms

    Hi fluffyduck,
Looks like you had everything done and as they came back normal you probably won't need it done again. In our case my husband's count was borderline and motility was low in the SA and my FSH was high. The worst part about this process is waiting so fingers crossed we get started soon.

    Well Nybabe

Finally things are on track, seemingly there was a mix up with the referral so I am only after getting my appointment, few months wasted there but what can you do  Its amazing really I got a letter for private appointment for March and the week later got another for the public route for Sept. Just have to get results of smear so hopefully they will be back on time. Have you had your appointment yet?
