A few people have recommended this app to aid with my running. If i run for around 30 mins, approx how many MB's would i use. I am currently on a deal where i get 350 mb per month.

AFAIK, GPS-based apps like this use the GPS chip in your phone and do not download anything using your mobile network. To prove this to yourself, you can switch off your mobile network service and see if it still works

It uses very little data and you can turn off data if you want. Data is only used to upload your run to the website and unless you want live updates on the website you do not need data. (IE You can wait until you get to a Wifi Zone)

It uses your internal GPS to record the run and matches it with a map later on the website.

Unless you are looking at a map on the phone at the same time as running then there will be no data transfer happening.

Thanks guys. I was wondering how many runs would leave me over my monthly allowance.

I tried to use my endomondo app but for some reason it was unable to locate a satellite. Anyone have any idea why that would happen.

Does it only happen with edmondo.

I use an app called "GPS Status" which i start up before i use edmondo or runkeeper. It downloads a small file from the internet containing upto date info on the gps satellites and allows you to get a better and faster fix.

What phone are you using. When was the last time you restarted it?

Endomondo is only one i have downloaded as yet. The phone is Samsung Galaxy Y. I only got it before Christmas and have not used it for running yet.

Download the GPS Status app just to make sure that your GPS is working and switched on.

    It is free.

I have it on my BB and I'm not bill pay. It doesn't use any data when out and about, and it only costs me a few c to sync my runs to the website.

I usually walk around my front garden for a while before a run for it to pick up a gps signal, it can take a minute or two for me but once it finds a signal it holds it.

My friend has an iPhone and uses the Nike+ GPS app (she has a sensor thing that goes with it and she sticks that in her shoe) and swears by it. Quick to connect and gives accurate enough results.

Thanks very much. It worked a treat. Located satellites within 10 seconds. :D
