Was standing at a very busy junction waiting for the pedestrian green light to cross the road. There were two skangers with a baby waiting also, cursing and swearing as to how long it was taking the lights to go green - then one of the them said to the other:

"yea, when I pressed the lights outside the public school the other day they went green immediately" -

Do these people really think that the they are so disadvantaged that the lights are even programmed against them?

Do they even think they're disadvantage in the first place or are you just labelling?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

What was it that made them skangers?

That's it. I've had enough of this nonsense I'm calling the PC brigade.

Public schools in Ireland are free schools as opposed to private schools which are fee-paying.

Your spoof is specific to England, no doubt.

Well, I suppose imaginary people aren't the greatest of minds, somewhat by definition.

There is nothing in the statement you overheard to indicate that is what they thought imo.

    OP is a sexist racist.

    It's not a "green man". It's a coloured person.

Skangers up and outside before noon?

    Usually too early for them

I don't think those buttons are connected to anything, and it's pure chance if the green man lights up after you press one.

    Indeed.

And nobody calls the schools public schools in Ireland anyway.

They are either private fee-paying schools or just schools.

They said the word 'public' and I thought to myself - what public school - where?

The deluded remark was aimed at the 'non skanger' looking people patiently waiting for the green man whilst having to listen to their foul language, but then again perhaps it is I that is deluded.

How does listening to foul language make people deluded?

There is definitely some evidence for that theory.

    Most likely stoned and paranoid.

I myself was a little stoned when I first seen the chronometer at the Ha'penny bridge there.

I immediately thought it was a bomb and jumped into the Liffey.

That'll teach you to stop smoking crack on the boardwalk.

I reckon they were just commenting on it being more likely for a set of pedestrian lights to go green quickly in the area around a school as the pedestrians (school kids) are a priority over the traffic

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,289 ✭✭✭parker kent

Some pedestrian crossings are actually far faster than other ones, particularly in areas where school kids are walking. There is one on Mount Merrion Avenue that switches the light from red to green in about 5 seconds. So they probably had a point.

That is, if this happened at all.

It's very clear what happened here.

What most people don't know is that ALL people on social welfare, in addition to getting free houses, cars and buggies, get a little handheld device free from the government.
This device has a button which, when pressed, instantly turns all traffic lights in a ten-foot radius red so that they can cross the road at the expense of honest, hard-working, tax-paying motorists.
Clearly, the device had stopped working, puzzling them.
Luckily, they'll be able to get a free replacement, as well as compensation for being delayed.
