Apologies if this is in the incorrect forum.

I recently got my hands on a Kindle Fire. I am unable to access the Amazon store without masking IP etc so is the there anyway to get apps for it?

I have tried Getjar and it wont let me install anything it only gives me a prompt to get the mobile app and then wont let me proceed any further.

Is there anything I can do to get apps without jail breaking it?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Its pretty easy to install free apps, goto settings and allow installation of 3rd party apps.

Now you just look for the .apk installer for the app you want to install. and download it and run it rom your downloads section.

If you want access to to the kindle app store you have to register a US credit card and postal address and associate it with your kindle account.

You can also root you kindle which installs a generic android OS. This puts on generic boring android but allows you access to teh android marketplace.

As the Kindle Fire is an Android device I'll move it over to the Android forum for ya.

Rooting the kindle fire does not automatically put on a generic android build, it just gives you the ability if you want to install custom roms if you want to go down that route. It leaves the amazon skin as is. It does however give you the ability to install the google android marketplace.

This youtube video will give step by step instructions on rooting your kindle fire, its a fairly simple process. I'd suggest making sure you are running 6.2.1 first.
