Guards using illegal substances

I am just wondering what is the outcome of guards using substances such as steroids and the lighter side of drugs? What can this lead to in terms of their job if it is found out what they are using? Are they ever tested for the use of these? Am more interested in the use of steroids by the Garda Siochana! Thanks in advance! :)

Given the nature of the job, and if a prosecution resulted, I imagine the consequences would be very serious.

Same as if a doctor/dentist is caught with cocaine. They would get a prosecution and then be called separately before a fitness to practice hearing.

    Does random testing happen?

This is actually very interesting if what you say is true! i am aware of some Gardai using these. Is it up to someone to report this from the public or from another member of maybe a different station? Have you heard of any Gardai being brought up before a board before over this?

Original poster, if you have concerns over the use of illegal substances by members of AGS, contact the Gardaí. Closing this thread pending review by the forum mods.

Think post two answers your question very well.

What r3nu4l says in regards any concerns is also advised.
