"Capsule Wardrobe"

I'm moving back to Ireland after living overseas for a number of years. I am shipping a lot of my possessions, including many boxes of clothes and shoes. It takes at least 12 weeks for all of these to arrive in Dublin.

Basically, I have 30KG of luggage allowance and I need to pack all the clothes I need for the 3 months in to this 30KG. During these 12 weeks I will be working in NZ for a few weeks (in winter), heading off to Dublin and getting married (in the Irish summer) and then going on honeymoon to South Africa, including a safari (it'll be winter in SA)

I'm trying to thing of all the important things to pack in the 30KGs I've got to get me through 12 weeks. Unfortunately I also need to bring some wedding stuff in my bag (shoes, underwear, outfit for day after wedding etc) I think I need a capsule wardrobe (clothes, shoes and accessories) to get me through all this so I can mix and match for different days. I need to plan carefully what to pack. What would you bring? What would you put in an ideal capsule wardrobe?

I wear a lot of dresses so I'm thinking that will work well. I can wear them to work for my last few weeks with tights, then throw the tights out before I leave and wear the dresses bare legged for the Irish summer. I suppose two pairs of jeans and plain black/white tops are a must as well. What else would you pack?

I can always go to Penney's and get stuff or borrow from friends which is handy but I've sending so much crap already I'm reluctant to buy anything more.

If any boardsies have some words of wisdom or an ideal list they would pack I would much appreciate it.

Dresses are great as they can be rolled up really small when packing!

Shoes are always the heaviest things in your case. Could your wedding shoes do for other nights out (after the big day of course!)? If not maybe consider picking up a pair of "match all" heels, like nude coloured courts, or dressy flats if you prefer. Then a pair of casual trainers or sandals, something to match your everyday jeans and dresses.

If you don't need runners/trainers/hiking boots until the safari, could you chance getting them there? Risky I know but might be worth researching your destination to see if that's a possibility.

Summer here last year was pretty miserable, so you might need so pack a good few cardigans and a raincoat. A blazer or trench coat is also a good idea, can be very smart over jeans and dresses.

Accessories wise, a scarf is a good one. You might end up getting bored with your clothes you packed, so a nice printed scarf can go in your hair, on your handbag, around your neck, loads of uses!

If I think of anything else I'll let you know. I was broke going to New York for three months so I had to pack wisely as I wouldn't have money to buy new stuff for weeks.
