Admissibility of evidence based on admission

Can a someone please enlighten me on this one:

Can the prosecution adduce evidence at trial of facebook messages, text messages, emails etc. if the only evidence linking them to the accused are his own admissions to sending them?

Or, must the origins of an incriminating facebook message (for example), be investigated / explored by gardai, and must the prosecution at trial be able to submit evidence of the facebook user account details, I.P. address, I.S.P account details etc. to successfully link the message to the accused...aside from his admission?

Essentially, although it may not be best evidence, can an incriminating facebook message simply be printed from the internet & shown to a suspect during police questioning? If the suspect admits to sending it, can that document be tendered in evidence against the accused later at trial, based solely on the admission?......(once the admissions themselves acceptable in evidence)

    Many thanks.
