I'm a bit surprised to see the popularity of the surfing photo on the 'best of 2011 thread'.

As mentioned on Pixie - I was in Spanish Point( Co Clare) one day in April - Easter weekend-- taking photos of an amazing surf with a 12- 24mm lens when this van arrived and 4 guys in surfing gear jumped out and headed for the waves.

I ran back to the car and grabbed a 22 year old nikon AF F4 300mm Nikon Lens from the boot.
The lens was bought 2nd hand on ebay in 1999 for $200.

The surfing lasted for about 10 mins only - one of the lads (whom I later discovered to be Trevor) said that at that stage 'the f***ing rip was getting totally out of hand'. Rip I think means riptide.

Anyway I did put the sequence onto Youtube - and did show it here in April and have to thank P&B for the music suggestion.

Putting it up again now for those who were lucky enough to miss it last time:p:p. There is no hiding place.:D

Great images from that lens. Is it a fixed or zoom just openned out to 300mm?
