FA CUP

With the third round starting on Saturday just thought it would be interesting to see what do ye reckon of the FA cup? Do you see it as a priority or as a distraction for your team? What do the fans of different clubs think..

Should there be an extra incentive to do well in it maybe? Playoff for champs league place for winner maybe? Does a good run in the cup actually lead to a poor run in the league. Was there a correlation between Watford, Boro and Pompey doing very well in recent seasons and subsequently getting releagted the same year, perhaps?

Personally I really like watching the matches they are usually better to watch than league games and I enjoy watching small clubs getting a chance to play the giants. The giant killing we see year in year out is also great to see. I am overall a fan of the competition.

However do you give a toss about whether your team wins on sat or not? Would you even like to see them lose as it could be seen as a distraction (particularly teams faring lowly in the prem). Will be interesting to hear opinions.

If the FA offered a CL place to the winners it would be worth winning. I'm presuming the top 6 clubs see it as nothing more than just another trophy, if they make it to the latter stages, fine, might as well give it a go, but if they get knocked out no one will be too disappointed.

Perhaps if someone outside the top 4 wins it then they should be given a play off against 4th place for a place in the champs league perhaps...

Speaking as a Chelsea fan, we've had great recent success in the FA cup,its always nice to win trophies and I think the top teams do try and win it but the teams they field in the early rounds, depnding on the draw, can look like they're not bothered.
