engagement ring problem

    Hey folks quick query to run by you guys.

    Went into buy an engagement ring from corrs jewelers a week ago with my fiancé and agreed a price with the man behind the counter...no problem.

    went in to collect today after resizing and was being charged an additional fee for the resizing!

    Am I totally in the wrong that I wouldn't pay an additional fee because;

    A-The origanal attendant said after taking deposit "when you come to collect it you will owe xxx"
    B-Nowhere that i've ever seen have tried to charge an additional price for resizing their own ring.

    The person today told me that he can't be held accountable for what his employee said to me the last time.

    If I hadn't been returning a ring from my initial proposal for a bigger one :roll eyes: I would simply walk away but now i'm left with a credit note for a jewelers and no inclination to shop with them any more.

    thoughts?suggestions?

    Is there any way that you could use the credit note for one of the wedding rings?
