Heys guys,I'm leaving Eircom this month as i cant afford the €55 per month.I have a 5gb limit on my mobile phone as does my wife.I was thinking about using both as personal hotspots for the laptop and buying add ons if we need to more download limit.
The other option is to get mobile broadband for €25-30 per month. Is there any difference in speeds between the phone and a mobile broadband device?

There shouldn't be, no. The differences would be that newer devices can support 21mbit(Dublin only and Voda only ) or 14.4 mbit ( common nationwide) HSDPA and older ones support 7.2 or 3.6mbit.

In a busy cell it makes no difference.
