A friend of mine thinks she has already lost her annual tax saver bus ticket. Can anyone confrm how much a replacement costs? From memory its around €10-15 per month

Also, although her ID card number is on the ticket, she's wondering if someone can jsut use her ticket if they find it? ie If someone picked it up could they just use it, hoping not to catch an inspector, or is the ticket cancelled when she gets a new one? (I think the prinicple is killing her)

I doubt there is any way for the card to be remotely cancelled. That must be the earliest loss of an annual ticket in living memory, maybe she could make up some of the dosh by putting herself up for a Guinness book of records award?

I lost mine in mid february before and I felt like a twat (Wallet was stolen while away). Will do my best to keep her identity hidden

If its an annual smart card ticket it can be hot listed which means it will be blocked on all Dublin Bus buses within a few days.

If someone tries to use it the drivers console will indicate a hot card (even if the card is flashed on the right side reader)

    There is a replacement cost

That's interesting - can/does the bus driver do anything with this information? Would be great if the Garda could be called or Inspectors but highly unlikely to happen and could be dangerous for the driver to confront the individual.

    Thanks for info.

She found it in the end, after cursing everyone she knows for having to pay €1.90 each way yesterday :D

The owner of this one must be in the running for the record then :)

    From that link

    Found: Annual Dublin Bus Pass
If you lost your pass today and you were on the 16:50 84X from town, fear not! It was handed to the driver so you can contact Donnybrook garage to arrange its return.

It was in a black ticket holder with no ID.

Mods: I've put this in the Greystones forum too, hope you don't mind the duplication under the circumstances.

Now, far be it from me to cast aspersions, but the fact that there was no ID with it invalidates it and would also make one wonder if there was an annual DART ticket with it (which would have the ID on it) that was somehow being shared between two people or am I being too cynical?

The ID isn't printed on it, its hand written by the company/organisation who provide the tax saver scheme

So if someone there doesn't put it on, I don't think most users wouold even bother to look. Don't think its fair to be so cynical

Are you sure it's valid without having a photo ID with it? I have the Rail and DB annual passes through Taxsaver, my rail smart card has my photo on it with my ID number, my Dublin Bus card has the card number written in in pen and printed on the card is "Valid only in conjunction with your Rail Smart Card". By the way, my point was addressed to the person that spook linked to. Does your friend only have the Dublin Bus annual ticket?

Dublin Bus seem to disagree with you in either event

Sorry, I wasn't disagreeing with that part. I was just pointing out, its up to the employer to write the ID number on the card and maybe they just forgot/didn't realise they had to. The card woks without the number hand written on it

You absolutely need an ID for the ticket

The NTA retain ownership of leap cards....

If it was registered, they may be able to xfer the credit, or post a cheque out to the user.

Maybe I phrased it badly in that post. There was an ID number on the ticket, but no ID card in the wallet thingy.

Chances are the owner keeps the pass and id separately, I know a few who do that.
