DB stops on SSG-North

What's going on here? It looks like several parking spaces have been removed and a new bus stop added. All the old bus stop signs have been removed and daft new bendy ones fitted into the road. Only one of those signs* is showing a list of routes that serve that stop, the other two are completely blank and have been that way for several weeks.

Why do DB find simple stuff so complicated?

    * The stop is for the rare(r) routes like xpressos, 7b and 7d. None of the busy routes are shown on any of them.

The parking spaces were moved forward from beside the junction with Kildare Street due to it being impossible for normal buses to access their stop.

The tours now exclusively serve the stops between Dawson Street and the parking spaces.

The bus stops are in the road rather than on the path because the OPW won't allow anything be installed in the path around SSG.

    The unmarked stop is served by routes 11, 14, 15, 46a, 46e, 116, 118 and 145.

Why don't DB bother putting that on the sign post then? I'm lost about why they think it's acceptable to remove all the route information from the bus stops and put up blank ones instead.

It should of course be marked as such.

To be fair they have improved dramatically in terms of updating the stop information in advance of changes to bus routes, and also now updating the website on the Sunday morning of the changes to remove old timetables/routes.

I guess this was a rogue stop!

No arguments there, it just seems like they constantly fail to get the simple things wrong. It's very hard to understand sometimes.

To be fair, the workmen probably weren't able to get in at the stop.
Almost on a regular basis these days, taxis are backed back from Stephens Green Shopping Centre to opposite Shelbourne Hotel.
No point in having the bus stop there
if buses can't safely let people alight from the bus

I'd just be happy if the Fare Stages were marked !

However the SSG North situation is erm......"temporary" until a small territorial dispute with the Office of Public Works is resolved.

The OPW have,in their wisdom, reputedly found a problem with the erection of Bus Stop's on the SSG North perimiter.

A closer inspection will reveal that ALL operators, and there are a few, have their stops now on the Carriageway rather than the footpath,as that is Dublin City Council territory.

One exception is the Dualway City Tour operation which apparently has a different "arrangement" with the OPW which sees it's Stop left in place on the pavement.

The same close inspection will also reveal that the modern Tru-Flow Bus Stop baseplates remain in situ on the OPW's hallowed ground until some (no doubt financial) arrangement is reached on a "Permit,Licence or Wayleave" of some sort.

Mind you,the same OPW appears equally intent upon frustrating Disabled Public Transport Users,as it steadfastly maintains the presence of beautiful architecturally important stone bollards along the pavement line which strategically pervent fully accessible Buses from accessing the kerb safely....another example of something not quite "Integrated"....ie: Thinking !

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

The cross-city stop now has the correct route information on it.

Is that not what you'd want from them ;)
