Anyone got any comment on the below deal. Its a sim free phone. Looking like I'll be getting one of those today, any reason why I shouldn't? The savings look brilliant in comparision to the prices in Ireland.

that's the older nexus phone - still a good price tho' I don't know how good a phone it is in comparison to the newer galaxy nexus (which is £514 sim free) or other top end smart phones

It sure is :) Have you had experience with this phone? Would you recommend it especially at this price? With the exchange rate its going to work out at around €250

its a great phone though. I have one since it was released in march last year and its a powerhouse.

I think the best feature is the gps maps feature where the phone acts like a tomtom. I use it in the car the whole time, you can never get lost and with google places built in, its really a very useful tool. Particularly good when overseas.

In short - a great deal.. I have both the nexus s & the nexus prime and now that Nexus S can support the ICS (OS 4) release there isn't much difference between the two and the nexus s is smaller, which I like.

All sounds brilliant. Think I'll get it so - Doubt I'll be the only person on here that does

Do you need a UK address for this or can you order online? Might also be interested...:)

I've a relative thats going to get it for me and meet me in Dublin. They don't deliver to Ireland unfortunately. If you knew someone in the UK or NI you'd get around it.

Will only take UK credit cards as well :( Would of collected it up North otherwise.

You can buy it in-store in the UK, as my second option was taking the train up to Newry to get it. Rang them this morning and they confirmed decent levels of stock across all stores in the North.

So if heading up North you would need sterling then? Credit card won't be accepted? I bought from Orange before with credit card, so carphone warehouse won't accept?

Never heard of this before, ever. Surely a visa can be used all over the world.

Great phone, got one last year in carphone uk, cost around 400 sterling!

They ask you for a postcode though, told i couldn't get one without a uk address, went into another carphone and just gave a postcode i found on google, it was a school :o
Just said i worked there

    Edit:

Probably no need for a postcode since it's sim free

    Great spot OP.

I'm based in the UK at the moment and was thinking about spending £130 on an Orange Monte Carlo which, per reviews, has "about 80% of the large smartphone experience", but I might stretch to this now, as it plays Flash, has 16GB onboard memory (saving the price of a SD card) and is, I think, upgradeable to Android 4.0.3

Believe me, they won't accept a card unless it is a UK card, currently registered to a UK address. I tried it with a UK card registered to an Irish address and all it came to was a lot of repeatedly cancelled orders. In the end I just went up Borth to buy it. There is a carphone warehouse in Newry.

I bought an orange monte carlo for my mum for Christmas. Sorry I hadnt seen this first.

Regarding the credt card issue I googled last year and found a way around it if you can get delivery to a UK or NI address. I dont know if it still works but it might be worth a try. I use a Tesco visa card registered in Ireland to an Irish address but I wanted to buy from Orange who would only allow a UK registered card registered to a UKaddress card to buy even though I had specified I wanted it delivered within the UK. In the end I rang Tesco Visa and told them I wanted to change the primary address on my card to the delivery address in the UK I had chosen for the phone. To my surprise they said fine and an hour later I was able to buy from Orange.co,uk using my Irish card which they had denied earlier. I entered the UK address for both billing and delivery. Then when the phone was despatched I changed my address with Visa back to my Irish address. It was a bit of hassle but not a big deal.

If you have a UK address you can also buy a prepaid Entrocard visa card and put the UK address you want delivery to as the primary address on it. www.deliverme.ie give that advice to people wishing to use their service so I presume theyve seen success with it.

Might be worth a try anyways. :)

Managed to secure the phone myself - Not after having my mum trek across Belfast and a sob story.

They seem to be selling out everywhere. We can only dream of similar prices down here

Okay so here is my experience yesterday.

Tried ringing CPW in Newry to check stock but could not get an answer so took a gamble and drove up. As I was unsure whether I would need a postcode or not I noted down an NI address and postcode I took from Google.

Went into CPW and asked for the Phone, they had only 1 left in stock. There was some confusion over whether it was held for a staff member or not but in the end they gave it to me.

The guy scanned in the phone at the checkout and in the meantime I had my own phone open with the NI address displayed in case required. He asked me for my post code which I gave him, he then stated the 1st line of the address which I said was correct, he then asked me for a house number and I gave him the one I had also noted, and finally he then asked for my name.

I then provided him my ROI Visa card and he swiped it and I had to sign but it went through no bother. So happy days !!! :D

Plenty people on boards would have reservations about ordering off that website..
